About Taylor H. Fenton

Taylor Harrison Fenton is a writer, musician, and multidisciplinary artist from North Texas. Born in 1987 to an African American mother from Texas and an Irish American father from Iowa, he was raised in Carrollton and Dallas.

After attending Texas Tech University, Fenton served four years in the United States Navy, participating in humanitarian relief efforts in Haiti, military exercises with South Korea, and operations in the Persian Gulf. Following his military service, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Web Design and Interactive Media from the Art Institute of Austin and later an Associate of Science degree from Brookhaven College.

His path to fiction has been characteristically unconventional. After working briefly in engineering, he devoted several years to competitive fencing and martial arts before an injury redirected his attention toward music. He subsequently worked as a professional guitarist, studio musician, and guitar instructor for approximately seven years.

Fenton eventually returned to an earlier screenplay that was unlikely ever to reach the screen and decided to transform it into a novel instead. That experiment became the beginning of his work as an author. He writes fiction shaped by a longstanding interest in speculative ideas, unusual characters, systems, conflict, and the intersection of the serious and the absurd.
